i think that meeting the paper towell goal was a pretty big deal, we thought 50 was high and we crushed that and got 30 more. some other goals that we met were leadership, teamwork when workin for the trail, and obviously helping the refuge's animanls in some way.

I think that reaching our goal in paper towels was good. I didn't think we were going to be able to get more then 50 but we did. I was surprised to see how many people in school took the time to donate paper towels.

Some of the goals I think we accomplished were gathering the paper towels(atleast50), establishing some sort of leadership, working as a team, working for a good cause, helping the birds out indirectly, and following orders to the best of our ability. I think we should put together some kind of fundraiser. I think a couple big banners where most people see it each day(front of school lobby, and cafeteria). I also think, in all honesty we could do win your ramon in height. It could be like a dollar an entry and the winner wins their height in the noddle packs. I think kids would love that idea and support it. It will be easy to raise all the money. I think donations of the towels, tissue and toliet paper will also be easy. Everyone has them around and can spare them. We can also ask some stores for small donations(a few rolls) and they may help since its such a small demand.

I think an activisit would be counted as a form of service only under certain conditions. If an activist is doing only what they believe is right, then it may not benefit the communtiy. If an activist is doing what the community wants as a whole, then it could be considered a form of service. But if not everyone agrees what the activist is doing, then it sho uldn't be counted as service. Service is benefiting a community as a whole, not just for the one person.

I think helping the donkey is the right thing to do. Although you hate the person, you don't hate the donkey. You have to remember that the donkey is a living creature and it is probabbly suffering. It would be different if it were a material possession or if it were the person that was in a tough situation, but its a donkey who did nothing to you and requires your help so it is your duty to help it.

What the sermon had to say makes sense. The question was a question because the answer is not so ovbious. It's not the donkey that you hate, it's the person. So why not help the donkey?

I think that if a group has a problem then only way to solve the problem and get everyone to agree is to talk about the problem. If a problem occurs talk it out but dont separate into different sections because this will only make things worse

I think that the group should resolve the issue amongst them selves before they start adding others to the problem.

Today in class we were talking about stopping bullying and I stayed kinda quiet. I think that in order for the to be consequences the administrator has to understand how the victim feels. If they don't know how they feel then they probably won't feel a need to make an effective punishment. This happened to me when a girl said something about my race and I got very upset. When my dad and I had a meeting with the guidance counselor, she told my dad that she didn't understand why I was so upset. I think if the guidance counselor would've put herself in my shoes and understood then the result would have been different. But instead the person was "talked to" and that was suppose to make everything ok.

The only person in my life I can call a hero is my dad. My dad inspires me to do great things and make something of myself, just as he has done. My old tumbling coach is somebody i look up to as a mentor because i can talk to him about things going on in my life and he's always open to helping me. Mine was about this guy named broc stan. He has acted in adventure movies, co-hosted a popular tv show, was a bush pilot in the Amozon, ran a cattle ranch in Guyana, published 5 books, has a black belt in karate, and has species named after him.He started a free medical relief service(RAM). He flies doctors, nurses, dentists, technitions, and vets to areas with little or no medical units. He has basicly given up everything becuase now he sleeps in an abandoned school building that the company owns.

The article i read was about Cheryl Perera who founded OneChild in Canada. OneChild is a nonprofit organization that helps stop the sexual exploitation of children. She knows about this first hand because when she lived in Sri Lanka a man tried to buy her. Cheryl had a tough time when it came to talking to the president of Sri Lanka but she was finally able to contact the advisor. At first Cheryl wasn't taken seriously but when the presidents advisor saw that she had valid information she was more cooperative. I think what Cheryl is doing because it is helping young girls who are involved in the sex trade. This program helps them recover and get a better start to life.

The person I learned about was John Bangura. He had been angry for a long time along with the rest of his town. During the civil war in Sierra Leone, he witnessed a massacre of his parents, relatives, and most of the town leaving the only survivors completely traumatized. The survivors were in outrage they wanted vengeance. But instead the people worked with rebels to clear way for Peacekeeping efforts. Bangura has high hopes and expectations for the future of Sierra Leone, but he asks of others only what he asks of himself. the Giraffe Program

I read an article about a group of students and parent volunteers in Wildwood NJ who do service projects for various causes, and help people all over the world. They have donated and helped out at animal shelters, donated to soup kitchens, sent soldiers holiday cards, raised money for a cause called Meds for Mexico and many other services. The students are divided into teams and each team votes on who they want to help. I think that is a cool idea so that the students are helping a cause that they care about. The Giraffe Prgram was started in 1984 by Ann Medlock because she wanted people to "stick their heads out to help others." This program has been very successful and there are about 135 students who volunteer, and 25 parents. I also think that its really functional given that each group gets to pick a charity or place to help, so that its more personal in sacrificing their time, money and efforts.

To Be Of Use

When I first saw that we were reading a poem in class, I was pretty disappointed. I'm not a big poetry interpreter so its not the top on my list. The poem to be of use was pretty short and to the point. It got the message across in simple but complex sentences, 9 to be exact. It talks about wanting to be around people who work hard, get right to work, and almost always give 100 percent in completing a certain task. The poem was well written and matched up well with what we have been talking about in class the last few weeks.

When i reread the poem the first few lines reminded me of going into a cold pool or ocean or something. You have to just jump right in, instead of wading in or gradually going in because you get too cold. That is compared to working in the poem. The author says that a person who has a good work ethic and is good at working just starts the job instead of waiting around.

The article To Be of Use talked about the work ethic of people. Some people will kill themselves to work hard. They have a good attitude about it, and are happy with what they do. It also touches the fact that we have working tools. And that the tools used back then are put in museums becasue we have gotten better tools throughout the years. This is all about working, and the attitude you have when you're about to complete your day of work.

The was a saying in a Samuel Light commercial stating that, "If you really enjoy your work, You'll never feel like you worked a day in your life." I believe that there's a job, task, etc. that someone will enjoy. From sports, to writing, to building, to cleaning, to even playing videogames. Honestly, I feel that my job of choice leads somewhere into the racing buisiness. I've always liked the outlook of the "sport" and have a very deep understanding of how it works and why it got to be the way that it is. That and there's always something happening.

It was my privilege to have the opportunity to ask some questions of George Jackson about his participation in the sport of football here at MHS. The transcript of our conversation via email follows.

LAZ: Hello, George! I'd like to gather some information about you to post as an interview on the class blogsite; I'm hoping you have the time to answer a few questions for me.I couldn't help but notice that you play football for MHS. As you might know, I'm a big football fan--have been since I started high school myself (so that's about the past 25 years). So naturally, I'm curious about your thoughts on the sport.

Q: How long have you been playing?
A: I've been playing for 8 years.

Q: What position do you currently play? Has that always been your position, or have you played others?
A: I've always played defensive end.

Q: What do you like about football?
A: My favorite part is when you get a big hit...I like the sound the pads make.

Q: Since the state championship season in 2007, MHS has struggled to come up with wins--and this season is starting down that same path. To what do you attribute the team's current difficulties?
A: We could be doing better if we fixed all of our little mistakes.

Q: Friday night's 31 - 6 loss to Shawnee, while regrettable, is actually an improvement from the 47 - 0 annihilation MHS suffered against Timber Creek. What kinds of things did the coaches and players work on over the past week to start the team moving in the right direction?
A: We just tried harder and Shawnee isn't as good as Timber Creek.

Q: What kinds of things do you predict you'll be working on this coming week to continue that improvement?
A: Oklahomas and tackling drills.

Q: When a team is enduring a losing streak, it's very hard to keep morale high. What do you in particular--and the team in general--do to keep a positive attitude?
A: We don't dwell on a loss. We just look forward to the next game because you can't change the past by crying about it; you're only hurting your chances of winning the next game.

Q: How supportive are the other students at MHS, especially now, when the team is struggling?
A: They aren't supportive.

Q: Bands, cheerleaders, and dance squads are all great high school football game traditions. How do you feel about their efforts to keep fans interested in the game?
A: They are the only ones who believe in us so we appreciate them a lot.

Q: Do you intend to continue playing football into college?
A: Yes. I'd like to play in college.

Q: My son is just turning 12, and is in his 4th season of rec-league football. What advice would you give to young players like him about pursuing the sport?
A: Just try your best and never hit with the top of your helmet.

Q: Do you play other sports during the rest of the year?
A: No other sports.

In class on Friday I interviewed Gavin. I wasnt all that preparded so it probably could have gone better if I had more questions. Some things that I did learn was that he has 3 siblings and talks to them about a lot of things. I also learned that his friends come to him for advice and that he knows what to say by putting himself in their situation.

The interview went okay. I wasn't fully prepared. I needed more questions and backup questions. Next time I think I will have to prepare notes for where I want the general direction of the interview to go. My partner was Jenna and I found out that just like me she becomes stressed easily. She also wants to be a physical therapist just like my sister. I tried to keep the interview based on her and didn't go into details about her or my similar experience which I thought helped. Overall it was a good interview but just needed to be thought out better on my part.

It goes to show you that college kids really do care about people and for them to go out of their way to get him for each home game is simply amazing. They all get to take part in this mans life and journey of struggles with cp. It goes to show you that one man can make a difference even if it wasn't his intentions.

I think this article was really inspirational because it shows how kids do random acts of kindines and services with out being told to. No matter how they pickup butch and what mood their in they still manage to pick him up. They also take out their time to do this service. It shows that the freshmen who are able to do sports try to help a man less fortunate.

I think it could be considered an act of service that the athletes go to the trouble to get him a mile off campus and carry him and his wheelchair into the car just so he can go and enjoy the games. I feel bad for him that his mom never got her drivers license. And I also feel bad for the condition that he is in. And its clear that he doesn't like it and wants to be able to play basketball but he can't. Butch is clearly involved and is doing the best he can and has the people to care enough about him to do all the things they can for him.

I am both a Precision and a Technical learner. I do happen to ask a lot of questions just for the sake of knowing things. Also I enjoy working alone as well so I dont have to worry about the work load other people are getting and if some people are slacking off. I enjoy working hands on with things but am not a big fan on taking notes and doing research just for the sake of it either. Every time I get an assingment I think about how it might help me out in the real world. If the task will not help me in the real world i get frustrated. I too become frustrated when people know information that I don't know. Overall I am both a Precision and technical learner at the same time even though they're total opposites.

I am a Technical learner. "Hands on" is a complete statement of myself. I learn things by doing things. I am extremely smart when it comes to figuring out things by assembling them and taking them apart. I solve problems by Doing things. I am extremely self-sufficient and don't need anyone else in getting things done. I take pride in being smart in this manner. I never really thought about how I take in information and brake it down. i am a mix of learners. i forget the names right now because i left the notes at school but the first on the notes i had 32 points. the second which was precise i had 23 points. the third one, technical, i had 25 points and the last one i dont remember any of it but i know i had less than 20 points. i learn best when doing hand on work, having a step by step plan and writing all the information i need down but i dont over research anything. it is an odd mixture but it has many strengths to it and i like the type of learner i am. i know my strengths and my weaknesses and try not to lean towards my weaknesses when doing work or a project

i think that im a very resposible and organized leaner. If you need something to be done admittedly or done in certain amount of time i will be the person that will be able to finish it fast and right. If im responsible for a certain job to be done i do my best to get it completed. I always start a project knowing and understating the directions and making a plan so its get done correctly. If im ever unsure of anything i ask questions to qualirfy my self. I like to complete things on time and do them right.

I don't think yet that I am one direct learner. In each of the types of learners I see myself having one or two of the traits. But on the other side I see in every type something that I am definately not. I think I am mostly Technical. I can write but its not something I like to do. I like learning by doing and don't want the extra info that I don't need. I do enjoy knowing how things work. But I like talking and doing. I don't think I care whether or not the task relates to the Real World. I am also a bit of Sequential. I am organized and I do get frustrated when I am rushed.

I think I'm a sequentail learner because I always do everything in order. I hate starting a project without directions and then trying to figure out how to do it myself. My mom always makes fun of me because I always follow directions and I never break any rules either. I think it helps me though because I always know what to do and when to do it.

I believe i am a very responsible person. In normal teenage situations, I know how to handle myself, and to make the right decisions. I do well in school, and I'm always on top of things. I'm a very neat person, and like to keep things organized. I try to take blame for the things i do wrong. I'm a good friend, and would do anything for the ones close to me. I'm very outgoing, and social. I know the diference between what is wrong, and what's right.

I think that I am a responsible person when it comes to completing something or even taking the fault in something I may have done. Though others might not admit to it when they were just as guilty as me, it wouldn't matter because I would not want to feel guilty. I also count on others to be just as responsible for me when I might be the one in the life or death situation.

I'm a simple person, by the way people look at me. I'm a person who likes to keep my personal info to myself. Of course, I am an outgoing person, I am very hands on, I always read the manual when it comes to something that can cause severe harm. I do like to know some of the more "useless" information, but the more "known" information is something that I also know. I am somebody who will help someone when they look like they need help or ask me (Sometimes, Respect is the variable)

I am an outgoing, funny, and smart person. I have the ability to look at something and figure out exactly what it does, how to fix it, or how best to complete a task. I think the term doing good can be defined differently depending on the situation. One way that people may define it could be following the laws and not getting into trouble. But others might define it as helping the community or others. Not everybody looks at things the same so I don't think everybody has the same idea of what the responsibilities of an American are.

As one of the many us citiziens living in this country i have many right, responsibility, and roles. Some rights i have are freedom of speech, voting when im 18 , eligibility for federal jobs and many more in the bill of rights. My responsibility's are being a loyal friend, daughter , good citizen in my country, and good neighbor in my community. I have many roles in different situations and many roles in different groups i encounter. I believe to be a good citizen you need to be able to maintain all three of these.

Considering that I am most likely the only 18 year old in the class, I feel I have a lot more responsibilities then all the other students in this class. Being a legal adult I am expected to be more responsible in my decision making and do what is best for society. If I do something illegal I am more vulnerable to punishment and consequences by law. The Rights, Roles and Responsibilities of American citizens are large and vary depending on the individual. Some of my Rights are to be secure which means I can't be violated. The Arrogance of Charity

This passage shows just how greedy people are but also shows the most simple basic necessities we relay on each and everyday and super rare in other places. I think that people don't fully get the effect of a clean shower anytime we want one or clean fresh drinking water at a moments pace. In a way all Americans are Arrogant because we do not know first hand how other less fortunate people live. This passage opened my eyes into seeing just how much other people suffer.

Social Justice vs. Charity

This article explained a lot about how people who do charity just do it because they think they're doing a service. But really, people who are doing the charity need to stop and think about what they're doing, and why they're doing it. Is it to help out others? Or is it for their benefit. Most people would think about the benefit. I agree with this article, and believe that people who are living in poverty have grown stronger than those who are fortunate. They learn to live with the simple things in life, and manage how to survive. They are not greedy, and they care about the things surrounding them.

I agree when the author says that people are greedy and arrogant. People just think that they are always going to have the basic things to survive. If i was given water to clean up with i would use it instead of demanding a shower because its still something to clean yourself with. I also want to comment about is you saw somebody who needed help. My mom and I were in a car accident 2 years ago on the highway. There were cars passing by all around us and nobody stopped to help. Finally a volunteer firefighter pulled over to help. I think you have to care about helping people all the time to actually stop and help someone if they are in a bad situation.

The article says "i come first. after my needs are met, i will give you the leftovers, the things i do not need to make my life comfortable." I have a cousin who exactly resembles this statement. She is like too many people today. To arrogant and selfish, and feel like they are doing something really great by donating their small clothes or toys. Not that its bad to donate them, but they only do it because they no longer need the things for themselves.
I went to Costa Rica last year and saw some very poor people. They were all truely happy though. They appreciate what they have even though it was not much. They were all willing to share food and their small houses with us. I learned to appreciate things i have too, like a hot shower, when a lot of people dont even have water to drink. I also learned that wealthy people only make themselves unhappy with greed and arrogance.

It's not surprising how selfish people can be, people like the guests in the article are known to be greedy and entitled because they are unable to recognize others' problems and difficulties. It's selfish people like this that make it difficult to assist more unfortunate people, since, as the article states, poverty cannot be "fixed" but it can be "aided."
As these entitled people feel, the poor can be fixed in just one action, or one donation, but of course we know this not to be a fact. It's terrible the way the guests treated the hosts, but such is the way of life and interactions between people, and it can't be helped.
There are some people in this world that are self-absorbed and ignorant to others' problems.

I think the article social justice vs. charity is trying to point out how ignorant some wealthy people can be. Especially when things get tough they expect they can get a break and give up and try again later. Well on the other side when your job is all you have to survive no matter how hard it is you can't quit. The poor people can't give up or take a break or else they might put there lives/jobs on the line. As people who don't live being poor, we don't have the right mindset to see that no matter how bad you might have it, there is someone in this world who has it worse.

Of course common good comes with the point of view. Like my accident example in class: If there are people already on the scene and everything seems to be handled I would just keep walking. If someone told me (directly) to call 911, I would. If it happened right in front of me with no one immeadiatley on the scene, I would be the first person to help. -Brian

Common Good

When doing an act of service for the common good, or the benifit of a community or majority, it usually comes down to weighing your choices according to your priorities. If you have the type of personaility where you cannot watch someone die knowing that you can make a difference in their life, then you probably are like me and would donate bone the marrow. I don't think it depends on how close the person is to you, just the circumstance that they are in. If the person is close to me, but their situation isn't as tough as a person who I don't know, I would probably end up helping the person that i don't know before i help the friend/family member.

If i had to steal medicine for a family member that was dying I would do it. My family is very close to me and knowing that I let one of them die because I didn't want to get in trouble would be very hard for me. I would do anything to keep them alive. But if i was asked to give bone marrow to somebody I didn't know I probably wouldn't do it. I'm all for helping people but I don't think i would go through something so painful for somebody I don't know.

Personal vs. Community

I think if there was somebody close to me who would die if i didnt give them a bone marrow transplant i would definately do it. If somebody else could donate it i would rather have that. If there was somebody else in the community who would die without it i would probably not donate because i would not want to go through the pain, but i would feel guilty.
I think the line between personal happiness and doing things for the community depends on the situation. If there was something not very painful or time consuming i would do it for the common good, but i woudl choose personal happiness over something else.

In my opinion doing any form of service for a community is a great thing to do. Even if the service is small people who are less fortunate are always thankful. The common good doesn't always benefit everyone but it helps out majority of the people. When it comes to donating bone marrow I think the circumstances change. I think if the surgery is as painful as they say I would only do it if I knew and loved the person. If it was someone that I didn't know I do not think i could do it.

The Common Good Vs. Personal Reason

The common good should be a task done by everyone. It doesn't matter the wieght of the task is being done; everyone should participate. From donating clothes at a charity or working at a soup kitchen anything you do will help. Also going back to the class discussion on if we would steal the medicine that would help or dieing loved one. I would do it with no regret. Then again if the situation involved I didn't know or wasn't close to me; i would not do it. Also donating bone marrow to a family member or close friend I would do it. But for a person I didn't know I would not do it.

safe rides

this might not have much to do with the assignment for the night but i was talking with my parents and they asked me if i was going to help out with safe rides when i can. i remember when my family first started the program with my sister and some friends. i told myself that i was going to sign up to be a part in it but when they first started i was not old enough to partake. i had forgotten about it until tonight and it just made me think about how it relates to common good. it is a program for driving people who cannot home when they have no other way home. i just thought i should blog about this because it was always something i thought was very good to have started in moorestown and i just wanted to spread the word, maybe even get some more volunteers to help navigate or drive to and from places. i know i will be helping out as soon as possible.

Where the line ends helping the community vs. personal needs

If someone close to me needed some sort of transplant or something along that line, and I was the only person that could help, I would go far to help them. I would definitely steal the medication my close friend/family member needed to save there life even if it meant that I would go to jail. A person's life means more to me than years in jail. It would probably kill me later in life if I thought about how I could have done something to save them rather than give up without doing whatever I could. Now if it involved a community member that I didn't know I would definitely be more hesitant, because I don't know them but it's still important to me to try and do what I can but with more caution.

I think the term "common good" could be defined in different ways. When i think of it I think of people getting together to do something that helps the community. Service should be done because people want to help others and the community they live in. Everybody is benefiting from service in some way or another. People on the recieving end are being helped by either getting food from a soup kitchen or maybe even by getting clothes from the goodwill store. And when you think about people that are helping others are benefiting also because it is making them a better person and gives them something to be proud of in the end.

"Common Good"

8th Grade Service Hours

In order to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, I had to do 30 hours of service for my church. I choose to cook and bake food for the food kitchen and serve it once a week. I think I baked and served well over a few hundred pounds of food and passed 30 hours in the first month or so. The looks on the faces of the children was priceless as the dug there teeth into a hot roast beef sandwich or a freshly baked cupcake. I didn't even consider what I was doing as a requirement but something I wanted to do for the less fortunate. It was a great feeling to help people stay alive and not be starving to death.

What I Have Done

A few years ago I raised money and supplies to donate to the Ronald McDonald house. I also went to the house and cooked for the families that stayed there. I also took a trip to Africa and spent a day teaching children my age and younger math and english. I have also raised money and donated to certain charities.

Community Service

Last year during winter break my family and I were on the way to church. My mom had an idea that our family should do something nice for people that are less fortunate. As a family we decided that it would be nice to make sandwiches for the soup kitchen. We took a hour out of our day and made 100 turkey and cheese sandwiches.

my experience with service

Last year, I started going to interact meetings (as well as some other clubs) and volunteering at some of the events because my friend wanted me to. But then the crew season started and I really didn't have time to do any of that stuff anymore, and besides, it really wasn't for me. I did do some volunteering at the library this summer and last summer that I enjoyed. I also volunteered at a learn to row camp to teach middle schoolers how to row. I did this because I got to row to when people didn't show up, and I liked it because I love rowing, or even just being out on the water. But honestly: My time is precious, and next summer, I am going to use it doing a real job, one where I get paid. And if I still have time, I might volunteer to row again.

Hospital Volunteering

This summer i had a great opportunity of volunteering at a hospital. At the hospital i would usually help the nurses with things they needed done, and i would help the patients if they needed anything. This was a fun experience were i got to meet a lot of new people and learn too. I plan to do this again next summer.

Community service

To be quite honest, I've actually never done anything remotely close to community service, ever. However, at the end of this summer, my mom offered me to visit her work. Her office is in Philadelphia, and she works for a program that helps the mentally ill of Philadelphia by therapy and prescribing medications. She said at some point, I could visit and help out in some way. This offer seems like a good idea that I should take up because mom talks constantly about things that happen at work, and this place may be a good start for me being able to help those in need.

Soccer Volunteer

I was a soccer volunteer for kids who have disabilities. Most of the disabilities were minor problems. I thought that it would be nice to help out in anyway that I could. So I gathered some of my friends and we went and just had fun playing soccer games with these fun, energetic kids. I didn't really see them as being any different from you or me. I learned that there just trying to find there way in this life but they have it more difficult than others.

I am an all star cheerleader and I have always volunteered with younger teams and sometimes teams with people who are the same age as me. Last year i helped out with the basketball cheerleaders for school. I'm always open to helping people in something that I'm passionate about. I also find it rewarding when people look up to me because it helps me be a better person and role model.

Welcome, MHS Service Learning students! It's a great pleasure to welcome you to your home on the web--your class blogsite.Ever since we first began using online bulletin boards as a way to converse about literature and writing (all the way back in the early '90's, and please don't feel the need to comment about how long ago that was, or how old you were then), it was always my intent to do the same in my classroom. I have found this format to work superbly to aid you in the work we will do. I have put this space together for the benefit of your academic pursuit--to expand your ability to converse about the topics we will be discussing. This space is essentially yours to post relevant--and presumably intelligent--comments and questions.

Please note the following rules:

1. ONLY students currently enrolled in MHS English IV Pd. 2 may post comments here. This is not a discussion board intended for the world--and each of my other classes has their own blogsites, to which they are similarly confined.

2. anyone who posts must do so with their REAL first name. Any posts found to be made using names other than real (for example, posting using another student's name) will be dealt with according to school disciplinary policy.

3. all discussion will proceed in respectful manner.

4. to ensure that #3 is obeyed, I will personally monitor all discussions on this blog. It's not that I don't trust teenagers to behave in responsible ways. . .oh, wait--yes, it is. I don't. Don't take it personally.

5. Do not expect me to comment on every posting, even if a question has been directly asked of me by one of you. I am much more interested to see whether your fellow scholars are capable of suggesting viable answers and explanations. I reserve the right to comment when and if I deem it necessary. Oh--and, yes, the blog will be a required element of your grade each marking period; that is to say, every RELEVANT, SCHOLARLY, THOUGHT-PROVOKING post or comment you make is worth points toward your end-of-marking-period blog/participation grade. (Yes, I am the ultimate arbiter of what fits those characteristics and what does not). Posts that START discussions are generally (but not always, depending on content) worth more than comments that continue discussions--but be assured that I am expecting each of your to be participating on BOTH sides, as posters and commenters. So make blogging a part of your daily online ritual (along with checking your Facebook and playing World of Warcraft). Check it frequently, and post or comment consistently. The concept of "participation" is now no longer restricted to the classroom walls!
