"Common Good"

I think the term "common good" could be defined in different ways. When i think of it I think of people getting together to do something that helps the community. Service should be done because people want to help others and the community they live in. Everybody is benefiting from service in some way or another. People on the recieving end are being helped by either getting food from a soup kitchen or maybe even by getting clothes from the goodwill store. And when you think about people that are helping others are benefiting also because it is making them a better person and gives them something to be proud of in the end.

  1. That is a good explanation. I think the common good does not neccesarily benefit everybody though. Ideally it would but i think common just refers to the majority.

  2. I also think that this is a good explanation. Like Shauna, I think that whoever is apart of helping the community does benefit from it whether its the pride they get or the actual help they receive. I think the "common good" is when a majority of people do some sort of service to help others.
