sermon

What the sermon had to say makes sense. The question was a question because the answer is not so ovbious. It's not the donkey that you hate, it's the person. So why not help the donkey?
Many people think because it's the person's property, yet the donkey is falling because of the person. I believe helping the donkey out would change the relationship between you and the person.

Group Work

I think that if a group has a problem then only way to solve the problem and get everyone to agree is to talk about the problem. A-dress it in a manner that no one will get offended and offer everyone a chance to voice their opinion. There shouldnt be a problem in most cases beacuse they people your working with are usually the people you know will help get the work done. If a problem occurs talk it out but dont separate into different sections because this will only make things worse

Michael D.
i think that if a group has a problem i think that they should try to solve it by working as a whole and first figuring out whats wrong and then approaching the problem with a group consent on a solution. I think that the group should resolve the issue amongst them selves before they start adding others to the problem.

Basma
I think if a group has a problem then they should compromise to make everybody happy. I don't think its a good idea to split the project up because one person may not do their share. So if everybody in the griup is happy I think the prject will get done better.

Shauna
if a group has a problem it can be solved by trying to agree on something and compromise but if that turns into fighting split teh project up into parts and every one does there on thing
-holly g
To resolve a problem a group should talk about the issues instead of fighting, and they can compromise.

Anne Frank quote

I think the Anne Frank quote meant that you dont have to wait on somebody else to start helping the community. If you feel the need to help then you should do it when you think it's necessary instead of waiting for somebody else to join you.

Bullying

Today in class we were talking about stopping bullying and I stayed kinda quiet. I think that in order for the to be consequences the administrator has to understand how the victim feels. If they don't know how they feel then they probably won't feel a need to make an effective punishment. This happened to me when a girl said something about my race and I got very upset. When my dad and I had a meeting with the guidance counselor, she told my dad that she didn't understand why I was so upset. I think if the guidance counselor would've put herself in my shoes and understood then the result would have been different. But instead the person was "talked to" and that was suppose to make everything ok.

Tiger Woods Article

Tiger woods to some may be a hero. He is not my hero. Heroes, in my eyes, are those who make a difference in the world but never get acknowledged for it. They are the ones who hold the door for you or help you cross the street when your elderly. Those are my heroes. They do good not for fame or publicity but just because its a normal routine to help someone out without even knowing it.

tigert woods article

I think that the article is right. A lot of people say that sports stars are their heros or role models but i think most people misuse those words. IN the last Eagles game in the first couple minutes i said that McNabb was my hero because he made a few good plays. Which is not really true because hes not really my hero, he just played well. I think people say hero because it is easier than saying superstar athlete.

Tiger Woods Article

I agree with the article heading, "Hitting a Ball Doesn't Make Someone a Hero." It's true, it's who you are outside of what you do that counts. A person shouldn't call someone their role model just because they can hit a ball. It should be because of who the person is, and how they contribute to the community. They are leaders, even if they are not always loud. They are leaders by doing the right thing. You should only call someone your role model if you believe they are setting a good example for you. That is what a true role model is.

Hero...

The only person in my life I can call a hero is my dad. My dad inspires me to do great things and make something of myself, just as he has done. My dad once tells me that if he can do one small thing to make everyone he meets a little better weather its a smile or a laugh to a contribution. My dad is the coolest guy you will ever be and has saved me from being UN-useful in this world. A mentor in my life would have to be my dads best friend. He always gives me good advice on handling lifes problems that i would feel uncomfortable talking about with anyone else

Michael Duffin

role models

I think of my parents as role models because i look up to them but i wouldnt consider them my hero's. My old tumbling coach is somebody i look up to as a mentor because i can talk to him about things going on in my life and he's always open to helping me. I honestly dont think that i can put anybody into the hero category though.
In my life, i have mentors like my mom, dad, and people close to me who look over me. My role models could range from anyone who has done a good deed, and the right thing. It could be a specific sports player. It could also be a leader who is no longer alive. It could be anyone you feel has done something that you look up to. I don't really have a hero. It isn't someone specific, but it is people who have stood up for this country.

Mine was about this guy named broc stan. He has acted in adventure movies, co-hosted a popular tv show, was a bush pilot in the Amozon, ran a cattle ranch in Guyana, published 5 books, has a black belt in karate, and has species named after him.He started a free medical relief service(RAM). He flies doctors, nurses, dentists, technitions, and vets to areas with little or no medical units. He has basicly given up everything becuase now he sleeps in an abandoned school building that the company owns.

giraffe heroes

i read about Cheryl Perera. she lived in toronto and became a positive speaker. then she gave speeches all over Canada trying to get children to take action. she founded "One Child", a non-profit organization that focused young people on stopping the commercial sexual exploitation of children. so far she is making good progress.

Giraffe Hero

The article i read was about Cheryl Perera who founded OneChild in Canada. OneChild is a nonprofit organization that helps stop the sexual exploitation of children. She knows about this first hand because when she lived in Sri Lanka a man tried to buy her. Cheryl had a tough time when it came to talking to the president of Sri Lanka but she was finally able to contact the advisor. At first Cheryl wasn't taken seriously but when the presidents advisor saw that she had valid information she was more cooperative. I think what Cheryl is doing because it is helping young girls who are involved in the sex trade. This program helps them recover and get a better start to life.

The Giraffe Program

The person I learned about was John Bangura. He had been angry for a long time along with the rest of his town. During the civil war in Sierra Leone, he witnessed a massacre of his parents, relatives, and most of the town leaving the only survivors completely traumatized. The survivors were in outrage they wanted vengeance. But instead the people worked with rebels to clear way for Peacekeeping efforts. Bangura has high hopes and expectations for the future of Sierra Leone, but he asks of others only what he asks of himself. He asks them to live with absolute honesty, absolute purity, absolute unselfishness, and absolute love.

Philanthropy

Philanthropy is an effort to help better the well-being and condition of humankind by charitable aid or donations.

Philanthropic

I know that phil means love and anthro means human from biology so i guess philanthropic means loving or caring for other people.

the Giraffe Program

I read an article about a group of students and parent volunteers in Wildwood NJ who do service projects for various causes, and help people all over the world. They have donated and helped out at animal shelters, donated to soup kitchens, sent soldiers holiday cards, raised money for a cause called Meds for Mexico and many other services. The students are divided into teams and each team votes on who they want to help. I think that is a cool idea so that the students are helping a cause that they care about. The Giraffe Prgram was started in 1984 by Ann Medlock because she wanted people to "stick their heads out to help others." This program has been very successful and there are about 135 students who volunteer, and 25 parents. I also think that its really functional given that each group gets to pick a charity or place to help, so that its more personal in sacrificing their time, money and efforts.
